If you are eligible for the German government's education and participation package, tutoring for your child is completely free of charge.

Free tutoring is available if your family receives any of the following benefits, for example:

Three steps to subsidized tutoring:
1. Assess the need for tutoring
Discuss with the teacher whether your child needs additional support.
Support is only possible with written confirmation from the school.
2. Get the application form & obtain confirmation from the school
You can obtain the application form for tutoring assistance from the authority that approves your social benefits (e.g., job center or social welfare office). The school confirms in the application form for tutoring assistance that your child needs learning support.
3. Submit your application and start learning
Submit the completed form to the relevant authority.
As soon as we receive approval, your child can start!

Free tutoring even without social benefits?
Even if you do not receive social benefits such as citizen's income, housing allowance, or child supplement, your child may still be entitled to free tutoring.
If your income is just above the threshold, it is worth inquiring at the job center. In some cases, benefits from the education and participation package are granted even then—simply because your child needs support.
It is best to seek advice and take advantage of this opportunity.
